Cloud White leans warm yellow, and it is not subtle about it by white-paint standards. With a hue of 46 degrees and meaningful saturation for a near-white, it reads creamy in almost any light. Next to a crisp white like Chantilly Lace OC-65 it will look noticeably ivory; next to a beige it will look white. That relativity is the whole game with whites.

The yellow shows most on large, well-lit wall planes and on ceilings that catch bounced light from wood floors or warm furnishings, which amplify the cream. It stays quietest in small doses like trim against a mid-tone wall.

Before committing, test it against three things: your trim or cabinet white, your flooring, and any large textile in the room. If your counters or tile are cool white, Cloud White can make them look dingy by comparison, so check that pairing first.

At LRV 85, Cloud White has plenty of reflectance to stay bright in most rooms, but its warmth swings with exposure. In north-facing rooms, the cool gray daylight mutes the yellow slightly and keeps it from going butter-toned; this is where Cloud White does some of its best work, because it counteracts the chill without turning the room beige. South-facing rooms get warm light all day, which pushes the cream harder. If you already have abundant warm sun, expect visibly ivory walls by afternoon.

East light makes it warmest in the morning and softer late in the day; west light does the opposite, with the cream peaking at sunset.

Bulb choice matters as much as windows. Warm bulbs around 2700K exaggerate the yellow; bulbs at 3000K to 3500K keep it closer to how it looks in daylight. Avoid very cool bulbs, which fight the undertone and can make it look slightly green-gray.

With an LRV of 85, Cloud White is bright enough to run through a whole house, and its very light, near-white band means it visually broadens small spaces. Whole-room walls are its most common job: bedrooms, living rooms, and hallways where you want light walls with warmth built in.

It is equally established as a trim and ceiling white, which is where it started. Use it as trim when the wall color is warm, like a greige or tan; against cool gray walls a warm trim white can read yellowed. On cabinets it gives a soft, slightly creamy white kitchen that hides fingerprints and dust better than a stark white, and it pairs naturally with brass hardware and butcher block.

Outside, it works as a full exterior body white on traditional houses, where direct sun bleaches some of the cream and leaves a soft white rather than a yellow one. It is too light to be a front-door statement color; use it on the door only when you want the door to disappear into the trim.

Because Cloud White is warm, coordinate with colors that share or tolerate that warmth. Revere Pewter HC-172, at LRV 56, is a natural second wall color for an adjacent room or an accent wall; its warm gray-beige base comes from the same temperature family. Edgecomb Gray HC-173, LRV 63, does the same job a step lighter if you want less contrast between rooms.

For trim against Cloud White walls, stay in-family rather than jumping to a stark white: White Dove OC-17, LRV 85, is soft enough to sit beside it without making the walls look yellow, and it is the safer pick than a bright cool white.

For contrast, Hale Navy HC-154 at LRV 6 is the classic front door or island color with Cloud White trim, and Wrought Iron 2124-10, also LRV 6, gives a softer near-black for doors, shutters, or a powder room. Warm woods like white oak and walnut, plus brass and bronze metals, all sit comfortably in this palette.

White Dove OC-17 shares the same LRV of 85, so the two are equally bright; the difference is undertone. White Dove is a softer, more balanced warm white, while Cloud White carries more visible cream. Side by side, Cloud White looks slightly more yellow, White Dove slightly more gray-soft. Choose White Dove when you want warmth that stays nearly invisible; choose Cloud White when you want the walls to read gently ivory, especially in cool north light.

Simply White OC-117, at LRV 91, is a step brighter and cleaner. It still leans warm, but the higher reflectance makes it feel fresher and less creamy. It favors kitchens and modern trim; Cloud White favors cozier, softer rooms.

Chantilly Lace OC-65, LRV 92, is the crisp one of the group, close to a true white. Against it, Cloud White looks distinctly cream. Pick Chantilly Lace for galleries and stark modern interiors; pick Cloud White when that look feels cold.
