Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 5, 2026
What this policy covers
CompositePaint (compositepaint.com) is an editorial site about paint products and projects. We don't sell anything directly — every "buy" link routes to Amazon or partner retailers. This policy describes what information we collect when you visit, how it's used, and your choices.
Information we collect
Server logs. Standard request data — IP address, browser type, referring page, and the URL you requested — is logged automatically by our hosting provider for security and debugging. Logs are typically retained for 30 days.
Cookies and analytics. We use minimal first-party cookies to remember preferences (e.g., your last-selected calculator inputs). We do not currently run third-party advertising trackers. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and offer a meaningful opt-out.
Affiliate tracking. When you click a link to Amazon or another partner, that retailer drops their own cookies on your browser. We see only the click; we do not see what you buy. Your purchase data stays with Amazon or the partner.
Forms. If you contact us via email, we keep the message to reply to you. We don't add you to a marketing list.
How we use information
- Operating the site (serving pages, security)
- Improving content based on which calculators and articles get used
- Earning affiliate commission when you click out and complete a purchase at a partner site
- Responding to email you send us
Affiliate disclosure
CompositePaint participates in the Amazon Associates Program and other affiliate programs. We earn a commission if you click an affiliate link and complete a qualifying purchase, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links don't influence our editorial recommendations — we recommend products we'd personally use.
Third-party services
The following third-party services may receive information about you when you interact with the site:
- Amazon — when you click any "Buy on Amazon" or product link
- Hosting provider — for serving the site (logs)
Each service has its own privacy policy that governs what they do with your data once you reach them.
Your choices
Browser controls. You can clear cookies and block third-party cookies in your browser settings at any time. Most modern browsers also support "Do Not Track" — we honor it where applicable.
Email. If you've emailed us and want your message deleted from our inbox, write back and we'll remove it.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for at least 30 days.
