Privacy Policy

What this policy covers

CompositePaint (compositepaint.com) is an editorial site about paint products and projects. This policy describes what information we collect when you visit, how it's used, and your choices.

Information we collect

Server logs. Standard request data — IP address, browser type, referring page, and the URL you requested — is logged automatically by our hosting provider for security and debugging. Logs are typically retained for 30 days.

Cookies and analytics. We use minimal first-party cookies to remember preferences (e.g., your last-selected calculator inputs). We do not currently run third-party advertising trackers. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and offer a meaningful opt-out.

Forms. If you contact us via email, we keep the message to reply to you. We don't add you to a marketing list.

How we use information

  • Operating the site (serving pages, security)
  • Improving content based on which calculators and articles get used
  • Responding to email you send us

Accounts, sign-in, and the AI Paint Visualizer

Most of the site needs no account. If you sign in with Google to use the AI Paint Visualizer, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google to identify your account. We never see your Google password.

What we store for your account: the room photos you upload to the visualizer and the images it generates for you (kept privately in Cloudflare R2), rooms you save, colors you like, palettes you save, and a simple usage log (render/chat counts and times) used to enforce daily limits.

Your photos. When you ask the visualizer to repaint a room, your photo is sent to Google’s Gemini API to generate the image and returned to you. We keep a private copy of the photos you upload and the results we generate — stored in Cloudflare R2 — so we can operate the service, help you with support requests, and prevent abuse. Your photos are not used to train any AI model, and everything is permanently deleted when you delete your account.

Your controls. From your account page you can download all your data as a file, delete individual saved rooms/likes/palettes, or delete your entire account and all its data (including stored images) — immediately and permanently.

Payments

When you buy a paid plan, your payment is processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record — not by us. Paddle collects the details needed to complete the sale (such as your card or PayPal information and billing country for tax). We don't see or store your full card number. We receive only a record of the purchase — the plan you bought, the amount, your billing country, and a transaction ID — so we can unlock your plan and help with support. Paddle's own privacy policy covers how it handles your payment data.

Third-party services

The following third-party services may receive information about you when you interact with the site:

  • Amazon — when you click any "Buy on Amazon" or product link
  • Google — sign-in, and the Gemini API that generates visualizer images
  • Cloudflare — hosting, database, and private image storage for accounts
  • Paddle — processes payments and handles billing for paid plans (Merchant of Record)

Each service has its own privacy policy that governs what they do with your data once you reach them.

Your choices

Browser controls. You can clear cookies and block third-party cookies in your browser settings at any time. Most modern browsers also support "Do Not Track" — we honor it where applicable.

Email. If you've emailed us and want your message deleted from our inbox, write back and we'll remove it.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for at least 30 days.
