Evergreen Fog leans green with a warm-yellow cast, which is what keeps it from feeling cold or minty. But the saturation is only about 10 percent, so this is a near-neutral color with a slight lean rather than a bold, saturated sage. On a chip it can look almost gray; on a full wall the green becomes more obvious.

The undertone shows most in strong daylight and next to clean whites, where the yellow-green warmth reads clearly. Against other greens it can suddenly look grayer, and against warm beiges it can look cooler and more sage.

Test it against a true white trim and a warm white so you can see which direction it pulls in your room. Also hold it next to any existing green tile, stone, or countertop, since a nearby green can push Evergreen Fog toward gray by comparison.

With a mid-range LRV of 30, Evergreen Fog reflects a moderate amount of light, so the room it lives in matters. In north-facing rooms, which get cool, indirect light, it looks grayer, deeper, and more muted, and the green can retreat toward stone. South-facing rooms get warm, abundant light that brings out the yellow-green side and makes the color feel softer and more alive.

East-facing rooms read fresh and slightly cooler in the morning, then warm as the day moves on. West-facing rooms do the opposite, staying flatter early and glowing warmer by late afternoon.

Bulb choice pushes it too. Warm 2700K bulbs enhance the sage and cozy it up, while cooler 3500K to 4000K bulbs flatten the warmth and lean it gray. Because a 30 LRV can go dim in low light, sample it near your actual fixtures.

At an LRV of 30, Evergreen Fog is a versatile mid-tone that works across a whole room without going dark or heavy. It is a strong wall color for bedrooms, living rooms, home offices, and dining rooms, where its calm green reads as restful rather than loud.

Its real signature use is cabinetry. The color built its reputation on kitchen and bathroom cabinets, where the muted sage pairs naturally with wood floors, brass or bronze hardware, and warm white counters. It also makes a good island color under lighter perimeter cabinets.

Outside, it works as a soft exterior body color or a front door with quiet character. Because it is a green, not a true neutral, keep trim in a separate white rather than trimming it in the same color. On built-ins and accent walls it adds depth without demanding the whole room commit.

For trim and ceilings, a warm white keeps the sage looking soft. Alabaster (SW 7008), at LRV 82, is a creamy trim white that matches the color's warmth, and Pure White (SW 7005) at LRV 84 is a slightly cleaner option if you want more contrast on doors and trim.

For a neutral wall partner in an open plan, Agreeable Gray (SW 7029), LRV 60, is a warm greige that lets Evergreen Fog be the accent while the two share the same earthy family. Accessible Beige (SW 7036), LRV 58, works the same way with a touch more warmth.

For grounding contrast, use Urbane Bronze (SW 7048), LRV 8, on an island, door, or exterior accent, or Naval (SW 6244), LRV 4, as a deep navy front door. Warm wood tones and brass or aged-bronze metals both flatter the color; avoid bright chrome, which can read cold against it.

Compared with Coastal Plain (SW 6192), LRV 37, Evergreen Fog is deeper and slightly more gray-green, while Coastal Plain is lighter and reads a touch fresher. If you want the same sage feeling in a smaller or darker room, the higher LRV of Coastal Plain gives you more light back.

Dried Thyme (SW 6186), LRV 21, is a noticeably darker, more saturated sage. It makes a bolder cabinet or moody wall statement, where Evergreen Fog stays soft and more neutral. Choose Dried Thyme when you want obvious green; choose Evergreen Fog when you want green that behaves like a warm gray.

Against Benjamin Moore October Mist (1495), LRV 39, Evergreen Fog is darker and grayer. October Mist is lighter and leans a little more clearly green, so it suits rooms where you want airier walls; Evergreen Fog carries more weight and depth.
