On the color wheel Wickham Gray points toward yellow, but at only about 7 percent saturation that pull is very slight. In practice you are looking at a near-neutral light gray with a soft warm whisper rather than an obvious color cast. It is not a cold, blue-based gray, and it is not a clear beige either. It lives in between.

Where the undertone shows most is in bright, direct light and against pure whites. Put a crisp white trim next to it and Wickham Gray can look faintly warm or greenish-gray. Against warm creams it can read cooler and grayer by comparison. To judge it honestly, tape a large sample beside both a clean white and a warmer white, and check it in the morning and again at night before you commit.

With an LRV of 60, Wickham Gray is a light color that bounces a lot of the light it receives, so the room's exposure has a strong say in how it lands.

In north-facing rooms, which get cool, indirect light, its slight warmth is welcome and keeps the gray from feeling cold or flat. South-facing rooms flood it with warm light for much of the day, which brings out the soft yellow lean and can make it feel almost greige. East light warms it in the morning, then it cools and grays through the afternoon; west rooms do the reverse.

Bulb choice matters too. Warm white bulbs around 2700K push the color friendlier and softer, while cooler 4000K bulbs mute the warmth and let it read as a truer gray. Test it under the bulbs you actually own.

At LRV 60, Wickham Gray is a versatile light neutral rather than a statement color, which is why it works as a whole-home wall color. It carries well through open living areas, bedrooms, hallways and kitchens, holding a consistent feel from room to room while daylight shifts its temperature slightly.

It is bright enough for walls in rooms that do not get much sun, and calm enough that it will not fight with furniture or art. On kitchen or bathroom cabinets it gives a soft, light finish that reads more relaxed than pure white.

Outside, its light value and gentle warmth suit siding, shingles or a porch ceiling, paired with crisp white trim. It is generally too light to carry a front door on its own; for that, reach for one of the deep coordinating colors below instead.

For trim and ceilings, White Dove OC-17, LRV 85, is a soft white that keeps the warmth in the same family, while Chantilly Lace OC-65, LRV 92, gives a cleaner, brighter edge if you want more contrast at the trim.

For a second wall color that stays in the same quiet range, Edgecomb Gray HC-173, LRV 63, is a touch warmer and lighter and moves easily between adjoining rooms.

To anchor the scheme, add a deep accent. Hale Navy HC-154, LRV 6, is a strong navy that works well on a front door, island or built-ins against the light walls. For a softer, more neutral anchor, Chelsea Gray HC-168, LRV 22, suits cabinets or a feature wall. Natural wood tones and both warm brass and matte black hardware sit comfortably alongside all of these.

Silver Chain 1472, LRV 57, is very close in lightness but leans cooler and cleaner. If Wickham Gray feels a hair too warm or greenish in your light, Silver Chain reads as a truer, more silvery gray. Choose it when you want gray to stay gray.

Brushed Aluminum 1485, LRV 56, sits at nearly the same value but carries a slightly stronger warm, almost khaki lean. It feels a touch more greige than Wickham Gray and works well in warmer, sunnier rooms where you want the softness pushed a little further.

London Fog 1541, LRV 57, is another close light neutral with a gentle warm-gray character. The practical differences among these four are small; the deciding factor is your room's exposure and the whites and floors you pair them with, so sample the finalists side by side before choosing.
