What Color Is White Truffle, Really?
Behr files White Truffle in the yellow family, and that is the whole review in one line. Independent matches call it a very light warm off-white with a soft beige-yellow undertone and low saturation — calmer than a true cream, not a greige, not a blush. Houzz threads treat it as a Swiss Coffee alternative, which is the right neighborhood: both are warm ivories you pick at Home Depot when the gray-white wall of chips feels too cold.
At LRV 87 it is a bright off-white. Behr Swiss Coffee sits at the same 87 and reads creamier; Benjamin Moore White Dove sits at 85 and is the grayed, safer version of the same job. Put White Truffle next to Ultra Pure White (LRV 97) and it suddenly has body — straw, not paper. That gap is useful on farmhouse cabinets and whole-house walls, and it is a problem the second you leave a brighter builder white on the trim.
Undertone in one line: warm beige-yellow — never gray, never pink. Midday glass is where the yellow family shows. The wall leaves ivory and goes buttery, especially next to a white ceiling. Readers who wanted a white, not a cream, feel tricked. Sample on the sunniest wall, or pick a grayed white like White Dove.
The default Home Depot pairing is the worst one. Ultra Pure White (LRV 97) wins, and White Truffle looks dingy and yellow beside it. The fix is the one-color rule: walls, trim, and ceiling all White Truffle, sheen change only. If you need contrast, go darker (Iron Ore, Kendall Charcoal), never brighter.
Cool stone and gray-wash floors sit at the opposite temperature and shove this ivory toward yellow. With Carrara-type counters or cool gray vinyl, pick a cooler white (Chantilly Lace) or a true white on the cabinets and keep White Truffle out of the room.

On a wall the gap is subtle, but Silky Bamboo reads a bit more like a light tan while White Truffle stays closer to cream. White Truffle is not a Color of the Year and it is not the white in a famous TV house. It is a yellow-family chip people pull at Home Depot when they want modern-farmhouse ivory and they are already standing in the Behr aisle. A 2017 Houzz thread asked White Truffle or Swiss Coffee in the same breath, which is still the right comparison: two warm ivories, same store, different amount of cream.
Do not confuse it with Sherwin-Williams White Truffle, a different color in a different deck. Behr 720C-1 is the pale straw-ivory in this review. If a magazine room captioned White Truffle is a greige or a blush, it is probably not this chip — our deck hex is yellow-ivory, not pink.
White Truffle With Wood Tones and Floors
Warm wood is the point. Oak — red, white, honey — walnut, butcher block, and cedar all sit comfortably against this ivory because the beige-yellow undertone meets the wood halfway. Orange-leaning builder oak is the pairing a gray-white would fight; White Truffle usually softens that orange instead of amplifying it, which is why it shows up in farmhouse kitchens with original floors.
The flooring that needs a large sample is cool gray LVP or gray-washed oak. Gray floors pull the yellow into relief, and the wall can read cream against them. Warm rugs and brass sometimes fix it. A 2-foot sample board above the actual floor, in the actual light, is cheaper than repainting.
