Behr White Truffle

With an LRV of 78, White Truffle is bright enough to run through an entire home as the main wall color, and that is its strongest use. It broadens small spaces, keeps hallways and stairwells from feeling dim, and gives open floor plans one continuous, warm backdrop. Living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens with wood or black accents all work well.

It is a reasonable cabinet color if you want kitchen cabinets that read white but not stark; just know the cream will be obvious next to white appliances or a bright white countertop. On trim it works only if the walls are darker; against a whiter wall it looks dirty rather than warm.

Outside, it makes a classic warm-white exterior body color, especially on farmhouse-style homes with black windows or a dark roof. Skip it as a front door or accent color. At this light a color has no contrast to offer, so save statements for something much darker.

At LRV 78 White Truffle is a light color that bounces plenty of light around, so it never goes muddy, but the character of that light changes what you see. In north-facing rooms the cool, gray daylight pushes back against the warmth, and the color reads as a soft, slightly flat cream. Some people like that calmer version; others find it dingy compared to a swatch viewed in bright light.

South-facing rooms are where it performs best. Steady warm daylight amplifies the gold hue, and walls glow without turning strongly yellow. East-facing rooms get that glow in the morning and a quieter cream by afternoon; west-facing rooms do the reverse, warming up noticeably at sunset.

Bulb temperature matters as much as exposure. Warm bulbs around 2700K deepen the cream and can tip it toward buttery yellow at night. Cooler bulbs at 3500K to 4000K keep it closer to its daytime appearance. Check your sample under your actual evening lighting before deciding.

Behr has several near-whites in the same family, and the differences come down to small shifts in depth and lean. Silky Bamboo (PPU8-14, LRV 75) is a touch deeper and slightly more beige. On a wall the gap is subtle, but Silky Bamboo reads a bit more like a light tan while White Truffle stays closer to cream. Choose Silky Bamboo if you want the walls to register as a color; choose White Truffle if you want them to register as warm white.

Crisp Linen (MQ3-13, LRV 74) comes from the same Behr collection and is marginally deeper and quieter, with less of the gold glow. It is the safer pick for north-facing rooms where White Truffle can flatten out.

Hazelnut Cream (750C-2, LRV 74) leans a little grayer, giving it a slightly softer, dustier finish. If your fixed finishes include cool grays, Hazelnut Cream bridges them better; in a fully warm room, White Truffle looks cleaner.

For trim and ceilings, use Behr Ultra Pure White (1850). At LRV 92 it is clearly brighter than the walls, and because it stays soft rather than blue-white, it frames White Truffle without making it look yellow.

For a second wall color in a bedroom, office, or adjoining room, Back to Nature (S340-4) is a muted green at LRV 38 that shares the same earthy warmth; the two read like they came from one palette. Wheat Bread (PPU7-19), a deeper tan at LRV 60, does the same job if you would rather stay neutral, and it works well in a dining room or on a lower wall treatment.

For contrast, Cracked Pepper (PPU18-01) is a soft black at LRV 5 that suits a front door, island, or accent wall, and In the Moment (MQ6-49), a gray-green teal at LRV 22, gives you a moodier accent that still feels calm. Natural oak, walnut, brass, and matte black metals all sit comfortably against these walls.
