Dunn-Edwards Almond

At LRV 67, Almond is a whole-home light color, not an accent. It is happiest carried across walls in connected spaces like living rooms, hallways, dining rooms, and bedrooms, where its warmth keeps large open floor plans from feeling cold.

It also works on kitchen and bath cabinets when you want a warm, traditional look instead of a stark white, and it pairs naturally with wood counters and brass or bronze hardware. On exteriors, Almond makes a soft body color for traditional and Mediterranean-style homes, reading as a warm stucco or siding tone that takes crisp white trim well.

Because it is fairly light, Almond is less suited to trim against pale walls, where you want more contrast. Reserve it for the field color and let a brighter white handle the trim.

With an LRV of 67, Almond is a light color that reflects a lot of what hits it, so the light source matters.

In north-facing rooms, which get cool indirect light all day, that cool cast tempers the warmth and Almond looks softer and more balanced, almost a warm off-white. South-facing rooms get strong warm light and will push Almond toward a fuller, more golden cream, especially at midday. East light makes it glow warm in the morning and settle down by afternoon, while west rooms flip that, going neutral early and warm-gold at sunset.

Bulbs do the same thing. Warm 2700K bulbs deepen the gold and can tip it toward yellow at night. Cooler 3500K to 4000K bulbs keep it crisper and closer to neutral. Always look at a sample after dark under your own fixtures before deciding.

Almond has close neighbors in the Dunn-Edwards deck, and the differences are small but real on a wall. Celestial Moon (DET650) sits almost on top of it at LRV 66 with nearly the same hex, so it reads as a near-identical warm cream. Choose between them mostly on which chip looks right in your own light.

Buttercream Frosting (DET662) matches Almond's LRV of 67 but leans a touch more yellow-cream, so it feels slightly sweeter and less tan. If you want a bit more visible warmth, it is the pick.

Quicksand (DEC754) is the bigger shift. At LRV 60 it is noticeably deeper and a little more grounded, so it works when Almond feels too pale for the room and you want the same warm character with more presence. Sample all three side by side, because in warm light they can blur together.

For trim and ceilings, reach for a clean warm white so the contrast stays soft rather than harsh. Whisper (DEW340) at LRV 84 is a bright, near-neutral white that frames Almond cleanly, while Swiss Coffee (DEW342), also LRV 84, is a warmer off-white if you want the trim to feel of a piece with the walls.

For a second, deeper wall color or a grounding element, Berkshire Beige (DEC760) at LRV 50 steps down into the same warm family without clashing. To add contrast and weight, Iron Mountain (DET637) at LRV 11 is a deep charcoal gray that works for an accent wall, built-ins, or an interior door.

For a front door with some life, Maiden Voyage (DEA178), a deep blue at LRV 8, gives a classic warm-cool pairing. Wood tones and brass or bronze metals also sit comfortably with Almond.
