Powder Blue & White Kitchen Color Scheme

A soft powder blue on the cabinets with crisp white walls and a warm wood accent, for a cottage kitchen that feels calm and bright. Every shade is matched to real paint you can buy.

By Jessica Williams · Color Stylist & Interior Editor

Start with Powder Blue on the cabinets. It’s a soft, dusty blue with a hint of gray, so it never reads too sweet or too cold. In a kitchen it feels like a quiet morning, calm and a little nostalgic, and it gives your lower cabinets a gentle color without taking over the whole room. This is the shade that sets the cottage mood, so let it carry the biggest surface.

Keep the walls in Crisp White to bounce light around and let the blue cabinets stand out. Then bring in Pale Oak, a warm honey wood tone, on open shelves, a butcher-block counter, or barstools to soften all that cool blue and white. So the plan is simple: powder blue on the cabinets, crisp white on the walls, and a few warm wood touches to tie it together.

Questions

Will powder blue cabinets make my kitchen feel cold?

Not with this mix. The powder blue has a soft gray base rather than a bright icy one, and the warm Pale Oak wood tones keep the whole room feeling cozy instead of chilly.

What countertop works with blue and white cabinets?

A warm wood or butcher-block counter is the easy win here, since it picks up the Pale Oak accent. A white or light marble-look counter also works if you want to keep things bright and let the blue do the talking.
