PPG / Glidden Cape Cod Cottage

At LRV 73 this is a whole-home light color, not a statement shade, so it is happiest covering full walls in the rooms where you spend real time. It gives living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and dining rooms a warm, sunlit backdrop that flatters wood floors, trim, and traditional furniture.

Because the warmth is friendly rather than loud, it also works well in kitchens and on cabinetry where you want cream-painted doors instead of stark white. It softens the whole room and pairs naturally with wood countertops and brass or bronze hardware.

On exteriors it makes a classic cottage or colonial body color, especially with white trim and a darker door. Use it on trim only if your walls are considerably deeper, since a light-on-light scheme with a color this warm can blur. In small or dark rooms its high reflectance helps the space feel bigger and brighter.

In north-facing rooms, which get cooler indirect light, the warmth is welcome; the yellow softens the gray cast those spaces often have and keeps the room from feeling cold. South-facing rooms flood it with warm light and can push the gold stronger, sometimes close to a pale butter, so watch it there. Deserted Beach PPG1104-3 at LRV 71 is very close in lightness but reads a touch more beige and sandy, with slightly less of the clean yellow glow. Choose it if Cape Cod Cottage feels a hair too golden for you.

Bamboo PPG1111-2 at LRV 72 sits at nearly the same value but carries a faint green-yellow lean, so it looks a little more muted and earthy on the wall. It is a good pick when you want the same soft warmth without the sunnier cast.

River Reed PPG1114-2 at LRV 70 is marginally deeper and quieter, leaning toward a soft greige-cream. In a bright south-facing room where Cape Cod Cottage might go too yellow, River Reed holds its neutrality better. Sample all of them on your own wall before deciding.

For crisp trim and ceilings, reach for Pure White PPG1001-1 at LRV 88. It is bright enough to frame Cape Cod Cottage cleanly and let the wall read as the warmer color of the two.

If you want a gentler, less contrasting trim or an adjoining ceiling, Antique White PPG1015-2 at LRV 78 keeps everything in the same warm family for a soft, seamless look.

For a second wall color or a grounding element like a built-in or wainscot, Stone Beige PPG1024-3 at LRV 49 is a mid-tone neutral that layers naturally underneath the cream.

For contrast and personality, use a deep accent on a door or shutters. Mariner Blue PPG1162-7 at LRV 8 gives a classic navy pop, while Ivy League PPG1130-7 at LRV 5 offers a near-black green for a more heritage look. Warm wood tones and aged brass or bronze metals round out the palette.
