Yellow, tan, and earth paint colors

The yellow-and-tan family is what designers reach for when grey feels cold and white feels stark — a warm, grounded backdrop without commitment to a strong color. It runs from pale cream and beige (low chroma, high lightness) through warm tans and khakis (mid chroma) into terracotta and warm browns at the deep end.

Pair these colors with cooler accents — slate, charcoal, navy, sage — to keep the room from feeling too one-note. LRV matters here too: above 70 reads as cream or beige, 40–70 reads as warm tan, below 40 starts to feel like clay or terracotta.
